Ms. Gelatt assists clients in environmental, administrative, and federal Indian law matters. Outside the Tribal sphere, Ms. Gelatt has assisted the Maryland Chapter of the Sierra Club in public comment efforts.
Prior to joining Jill Grant & Associates, Ms. Gelatt served as Senior Staff Attorney at Midwest Environmental Advocates in Madison, Wisconsin, where she worked in coalition with and represented community groups and Native Nations in judicial and administrative proceedings related to water, open government, and toxic contamination. Prior to that she was a Trial Attorney and Senior Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice in the Environment and Natural Resources Division.
Ms. Gelatt clerked for the Honorable Richard D. Cudahy on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Honorable Keith P. Ellison on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. She has taught land use law, wildlife law, and natural resources law at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, The George Washington University Law School, and DePaul University College of Law, respectively, as an adjunct professor.
Ms. Gelatt co-authored the publication Civil and Administrative Remedies for Wildlife and Plant Violations, U.S. Attorneys’ Bulletin 63.3:69-81 (2015), with Sheila Einsweiler.
